Silaiwali-NARGIS

CHF 40.00 CHF 47.00

Cloth doll made by refugee women from Afghanistan who now live in India. The Silaiwali dolls are handmade and measure approximately 47 x 13 cm. Each doll is unique and wears an individual handmade outfit.

The sustainable clothing of each doll is made from leftover fabrics. These leftover fabrics, which end up in the large clothing landfill in India via the fast fashion industry, are destroyed or burned. Silaiwali transforms these leftovers into beautiful dolls with a boho look.

Each doll comes with a mattress, pillow and bedspread so that it lies in a bed. The packaging (the bed) is a beautiful (foldable) cardboard gift box with a carrying strap. Each doll is attached to a label with a QR code that tells the beautiful story behind the dolls in a video. The story and background information about Silaiwali is also included in a booklet.

Materials used: cotton (doll, mattress, pillow and bedspread), polyfill, wool (hair), recycled cardboard (folding box).

NB The dolls are not sold as toys as they have not been professionally tested to EU standards (the dolls should be tested individually as they are handmade). We assume they are safe for children but take no responsibility as a company.

Silaiwali has partnered with FAIR TRADE FORUM INDIA, which, together with UNHCR, is providing livelihoods to refugees.
