Forever in my heart

With children, no day is the same and every first time is something very special - but the first experience with death, grief and loss is also a particularly challenging one. How do we help our little ones understand something so big that we ourselves are often at a loss for words? Page by page, this picture book perhaps makes it a little easier to introduce children to this supposedly difficult topic in a loving way.
“Forever in my Heart” is the touching story of a girl who has to say goodbye to her dog Bailey. But how do you spend your last days together when you know that your beloved pet will soon be gone? The family wants to make it as nice as possible for the dog: they cuddle together under their favorite blanket, take a walk to their favorite apple tree and visit all their favorite places again. The girl knows she will be sad - but she also knows that she will never forget her time with Bailey.
We love it because
Kelly Wu beautifully poetizes what it means to lose a pet. With particularly tender, warm-hearted illustrations, she shows children ages 3 and up that joy and sadness sometimes go hand in hand - and that being sad is an important feeling that is part of life.
About the publisher
We met and fell in love in 2012 when Anna was on a language trip to Berlin. Initially, Anna lived in Warsaw, where she studied linguistics, and Lukas lived in Berlin, where he set up his first company. After a few years of long-distance relationship, connected by the Berlin-Warsaw express train, Anna moved to Berlin, and in 2016 we got married on a beach in the Seychelles. What connected us from the start: We love books and are proud of our large bookshelf.
In 2018, happiness became perfect: our twins Zoë and Vincent were born. Now we bought children's books in the three languages our children are growing up with: German, English and Polish. We noticed that many wonderful children's books are available in one language but not in the other. That's why we, a translator and an entrepreneur, decided to publish these books ourselves!
And so we founded Zuckersüß Verlag. Since 2019 we have been searching, finding and translating the most beautiful children's books in the world and bringing them to Germany. For ourselves and our children and all young families who enjoy reading together.
